Welcome to Primordial Body
You are here because you recognise that the living body in its wholeness.
That the skin is a landscape holding stories older than language & our tissues are the gateways into transformation.
The skin is where the story begins. Where one receives their first touch. Where one is met with sensation. Where one explores pleasure, pain, and everything in between.
The primordial languages for which the skin is the transmitter: senses, movement, and touch, are fully developed when we come into being on this earth.
Sensing. Moving. Touching.
An excerpt from The Dermascape, an essay on decolonising the violences embedded in skin through trauma held in tissues & corrective experiences for bodies that have learned to endure rather than receive.
We were never taught to inhabit this landscape.
We were taught to leave it. To override its signals, to ignore the inherent wisdom within each one of us & abandon the body that carries us.
Ezel (he/they) is a brown trans masculine somatic practitioner & educator who is committed to designing spaces rooted in belonging & dignity.
Through freehand, intuitive skin marking, Ezel holds a container for deep presence, vulnerability, and empowerment. Their research centres on unravelling subtle violences that retraumatise the body, and offers corrective experiences through trauma-informed care.
I am Ezel, the founder of Primordial Body
While knowledge & awareness is an important step towards healing, it is practice that generates transformation.
The body doesn't transform through understanding alone. It transforms through experience, through being held differently, touched differently, witnessed differently. We know that we have transformed when our actions align with our values even under the same old pressures.
